INTRODUCTION TO CESKE BUDEJOVICE


The city of Ceske Budejovice was founded in 1265 by the Czech king Premysl Otakar II at the confluence of the Malse and Vltava River in southern Bohemia. The fortress was established concurrently with the city. Along with the fortress, the Dominican monastery is the oldest part of the city. Next to the monastery is the Late Gothic Solnice building. The center of the city is the square named after Premysl Otakar II, which is surrounded by Renaissance and Baroque buildings. Tourists who come to city may also visit expositions of the southern Bohemian museum, galleries etc.

HOW TO GET THERE


You can either take a bus or train from Prague to Český České Budějovice, although the bus connection is faster. There are several bus companies offering direct service to České Budějovice, for example : STUDENT AGENCY, ČSAD AUTOBUSY ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE, ČSAD JIHOTRANS. The journey takes approx. 2,5 hours.

Come and visit the brewery producing the world-famous Budweiser Budvar lager. You will experience the tradition of beer-making in South Bohemia, which goes back to the 13th century.
